Abstract

The notion of "red lines", and how they are challenged, is useful to understand the scope and nature of dissent in the "Woman Life Freedom" movement in Iran. The popular, complex yet taken-for-granted expression of “red line” (khat-e ghermez) offers a unique view into the topography and history of the social contract established through violence in post-revolution Iran. In the last decades, they have reconfigured, and constantly renewed, the rules of political participation, and the boundaries of dissent and belonging. The "red lines" have also greatly impacted the production of knowledge and expertise on Iranian society. Yet their nature, their history and their effects have not been considered as a legitimate object of knowledge. It is important to remedy this blind spot (at the risk of stating the obvious), in order to understand the revolutionary dimensions of the current protests in Iran. The "Woman Life Freedom" movement is attacking and dismantling the "red lines": what political and social impact can this have? To address this question, we first need to clarify what the red lines did to society and "citizenship" in the last decades, and how they did it. This opens a discussion on the intensity and capacity of dissent today, at the light of an archeology and a micro-history of State violence in post-revolution Iran.

شورا مکارمی پژوهشگر مرکز ملی تحقیقات علمی در پاریس است که مهمان ششمین جلسه از برنامه‌های زن زندگی آزادی فلای باتل بود. در این جلسه او از مطالعات خود در رابطه با جنبش‌های ایران و مفهوم خط قرمز و اهمیت آن در فضای سیاسی و اجتماعی ایران سخن می‌گوید. او اشاره می کند که تعریف این خط قرمزها در ده سال نخست پس از انقلاب ۵۷ (انقلاب بلند ایران) در فضایی با خشونت بسیار صورت گرفت. حجاب یکی از این خطوط قرمز بود که اینک در جنبش زن زندگی آزادی، مردم در حال مبارزه با آن و خواستار عبور از آن هستند. شورا در ادامه سخنان خود در رابطه با فهم بهترِ این خطوط قرمز و اهمیت مطالعه آن در شرایط کنونی صحبت می‌کند و به سوالات شرکت‌کنندگان در این باره می‌پردازد.
